5 Reasons to Hire Me: Kristin Hulda

Your home is a reflection of who you are and tells your story without words whether you are aware of it or not. Do you like your story or is it messy? Is it calm and collected or disjointed? If these questions make you feel uncomfortable, you are no longer alone, I am here to guide you.

I have experience in the interior design, product design and landscaping industries and my formal degree is as an architectural designer. I have been fortunate enough to travel abroad extensively and all these overlapping experiences shaped my integrated and holistic design philosophy. Everything is a considered selection and part of the greater picture.

I create spaces that are functional, effortlessly stylish and most of all, comfortable. My interior style conveys a sense of calm and confidence because I considering how objects and spaces interact with you as the owner. Good design is about proportion and scale, and the perfect combination of materials, art, lighting, texture, plants and furniture.

My designs engage and inspire emotion and spark conversation by telling a cohesive story. As a designer, I enjoy using curated feature pieces in conjunction with carefully selected elements of your existing décor. Working together, we translate your own ideas and desires into a working concept, within a budget and desired timeframe. I love what I do, and it would be a joy to work with you to make your home a haven.

Let me walk you through the top 5 benefits of working with me.

1. Save Time

You already have tasks, activities and appointments...adding one more thing to your plate is unnecessary.

I do the running around for you! I offer you the peace of mind, knowing that not only will your purchased items all look good together, but you will have no need to sit on your iPhone or iPad for hours on end scrolling through literally endless products, without feeling confident enough to make a purchase. My pool of retailers, designers, manufacturer and wholesalers means I have already done the work for you, I find the best and most beautiful solutions to suit your specific project.

2. Budgeting & Financial Management

Before I spend a cent of your budget...

I create a thorough spreadsheet of all the items to be purchased, making sure you can clearly see what will be bought, from where and how much it will cost. This working spreadsheet also includes product dimensions, lead times and the trade discounts available to my studio, which I pass on to you. We discuss this list in detail and you need to approve the budget before any purchasing takes place. At SKH, my projects all have their own dedicated bank accounts and cards, ensuring your money is ring fenced. The bank statements are also delivered to you on the project handover. I prefer to keep my books with my clients transparent, I highly value your trust.

3. Trade Discounts

This is a controversial topic. All designers and agencies handle trade discounts in different ways.

I have chosen to pass all my trade discounts on to my clients which is anything from 5% - 40% depending on the supplier. My fees are a fixed percentage of the budget and may appear higher than the industry norm, but I believe that as a professional you value my time, know I have specialised skills and have access to my industry connections. There are no hidden costs or surprise invoices at the end of the day. This open playbook allows your budget to stretch further and you win in the end, your home and space get maximum bang for bucks.

4. Project Management

Putting together a plan on paper is the first step toward project success, but a plan is only as good at the person implementing it.

I am a qualified project manager and this puts me at an advantage when it comes to project timelines. Once I’ve started placing orders, not only do I need to keep track of each and every one, I also double check pricing, negotiate better terms, and sometimes score on sales and bargains along the way. All your purchases need to be delivered or collected, and I am on site to receive goods and ensure assembly, storage or placement is done correctly. I am dedicated to and deeply care about your project, trust me when I say I am as invested in the outcome as you are, otherwise I would not have put my name on the proverbial door.

5. Styling
